Bacteria Intestinal Flora Friendly and pathogenic bacteria form a delicate and constantly changing balance as they compete to take hold and remain. We strive to maintain a balance of 85% good friendly bacteria to 15% Pathogenic bacteria ( bad )

Bentonite Clay: Sodium Bentonite is a type of volcanic clay with amazing absorptive properties. When we take Bentonite Clay with Psyllium Husk, the clay does the important duty of attracting and absorbing all floating toxic substances from our mucous linings, our blood and bowels. It's like a magnet that attracts toxins into clusters and can then be swept away and washed out easily.

Colon/ intestines/ gut The Colon is part of the large intestine that comes after the small intestine in the digestive tract and measures approximately 1.5 meters in length. It is mainly responsible for storing waste, reclaiming water, maintaining the water balance, and absorbing some vitamins, such as vitamin K.The digestive tract (also known as the alimentary canal) is the system of organs that takes in food, digests it to extract energy and nutrients, and expels the remaining waste. The major functions of this tract are ingestion, digestion, absorption, and defecation.

Colonic Irrigation. Colonic irrigation is a procedure for removing waste and toxins from the bowel. It is also known as colonic hydrotherapy. It can help remove traces of faeces (stools) and other waste products and identify worms or parasites living in your gut.

Colon cleansing: A big advantage of having a clean colon is having a more stable emotional life! Natural healers say that the constipated person is an irritable, impatient one. Internal hygiene has a massive impact on our health, well-being and appearance! Once you accept enemas as part of your lifestyle, you will be able to apply it when needed for beneficial results.

Your digestive system consists of a long tube extending from the mouth to the rectum. It digests the solid food and liquid we eat and drink, absorbing the nutrients along the way. What is left of the solid material exits the body via the large intestine and rectum.

Nutritionists and doctors have advised us on the importance of eating lots of organic fruit and vegetables because of their living enzymes, vitamins, fibre and trace minerals.

These nutrients are mostly absorbed in the small intestine and the colon (large intestine). Healthy intestines pass food through your body in a natural, circular, muscular movement (peristalsis). Diets that are high in refined, over-processed foods, with high fat and sugar content and low fibre, cause peristalsis to become weak and ineffective. Indeed, food can end up getting stuck in the many small pockets along the way and becomes impacted against the wall of the colon. The material then begins to putrify and ferment -- this is when your whole internal environment can become toxic. The colon is meant to serve as a reservoir from which the blood absorbs nutrients to circulate throughout the entire system. When the colon is toxic, or impacted with faecal matter, poisons are distributed instead and the condition of toxemia arises. You then begin to feel hungry all the time and eat more than you need, because the nutrients are not absorbed and circulated.

The colon also serves to eliminate waste products which arise from normal body function. It can't do this if the walls are covered with a toxic lining.

Your colon is also a natural breeding ground for bacteria. In a healthy colon the bacilli coli (friendly bacteria) will control the unfriendly, disease producing bacteria. When there is too much putrification and fermentation in the colon, the pathogenic bacteria proliferate and illness results. Constipation is often the first symptom to manifest.

Regular bowel cleansing will help remedy this situation. Once your bowels can resume normal, cleansing activity, the odd cleanse here and there (once a week or once a month) will help to ensure that toxic wastes do not build up. If you feel the need for enemas too often, please seek professional guidance, so that you don't weaken the system by overusing the enemas

Combined meals.Food combining. There are 7 golden rules, for maintaining high energy levels and to lose weight easily. This principle works on the fact that food will enter the body, give the body what it needs and exit the body in as short a time as possible.

  1. Starch only combines with other starch and all raw and cooked vegetables
  2. Flesh combines only with other flesh, all raw vegetables and cooked no starch vegetables
  3. Nuts combine only with other nuts, seeds, dried fruit, bananas and all raw vegetables
  4. Fried fruits combine only with other dried fruits, avocados, bananas, nuts and all raw vegetables
  5. Fresh fruit should only be eaten alone on an empty stomach
  6. Eat melon on their own.
  7. Never drink with meals as this dilutes the enzymes digesting your food

Detoxification. Detox, short for detoxification, in general it is the removal of toxic substances from the body.

Digest. Digestion Begin in the mouth where food is chewed, and mixed with saliva to break down starches. The stomach continues to break food down mechanically and chemically through the churning of the stomach and mixing with enzymes. Absorption occurs in the stomach and gastrointestinal tract, and the process finishes with excretion

Electrolytes. Electrolytes are important because they are what your cells (especially nerve, heart, muscle) use to maintain voltages across their cell membranes and to carry electrical impulses (nerve impulses, muscle contractions) across themselves and to other cells. Your kidneys work to keep the electrolyte concentrations in your blood constant measured by your PH level despite changes in your body.

Enema.  An enema is the procedure of introducing liquids into the rectum and colon via the anus. The Enema serves to wash out and eliminate waste products which arise from normal body function. It can't do this if the walls are covered with a toxic lining.

When you are fasting or on a detox plan, extra toxins are released into the blood and lymph. An enema is the most effective in carrying away toxins out of the body. It is also a necessary part of any programme dedicated to deep bowel cleansing and for cleansing your emotions! If you have felt a resistance towards accepting enemas we hope that this information will help in some way.

How to use an enema

Our enema kit relies on gravity feed. This means that the bag is designed to be placed on a hook at approximately shoulder height. A tube of about 5 feet connects the container with the nozzle at the other end and there is a small tap with which the flow of the liquid can be regulated.

You will need the following:

·                           A convenient hook

·                           An enema kit

2 pints of enema liquid (various types are listed below). Whatever the contents the liquid should be room temperature. Too warm and it would be uncomfortable, too cold and it would be hard to retain.

You will find your enema a simple and pleasant experience if you organise yourself well, set aside a relaxed half an hour and provide yourself with something to do when you are retaining the enema (music, book, etc). Many people like to take their enema while they are soaking in a warm bath, others prefer to do it on a rug on the bathroom floor so that they can assume yoga postures like the shoulder stand while retaining the liquid, others choose to use a slant board or tip-u-up, allowing gravity to help in retention. Since we are all different, our advice would be to experiment and find out what works for us. What follows must only be taken as a guide. Many may have been advised by practitioners -- follow their instructions!

When you are ready:

  1. lubricate the enema nozzle (we use coconut oil)

  2. lie on your back or on your right side

  3. gently insert the nozzle into the rectum until it is firmly in place

  4. gently turn the little tap to allow the liquid to flow through the tube
you can control the level of flow by turning the tap

  5. don't expect too much of yourself the first time, either in terms of the amount of liquid retained or the retention time (after a number of enemas your body will get used to retaining more liquid for longer)

  6. aim to retain about 2 pints for at least 10 minutes at the outset (your practitioner may have already advised you)

  7. sometimes the urge to release cannot be ignored and it is wise to let it go and begin again. As the bowel condition improves, it will be easier to accept and retain more liquid with a minimum of discomfort. The colon is a very large eliminative organ and is arranged internally like three sides of a large square. The aim is to let the enema liquid go up the descending colon positioned down our left hand side, along the transverse colon positioned from left to right under our stomachs and into the ascending colon which goes down our right hand side. It will help to gently massage the colon in a clockwise motion and to change positions.

Types of enema

Warm water enema.  An enema with filtered or purified water like Evian at body temperature will effectively cleanse the rectum and release toxins which may be causing headaches and flatulence. Its effects are superficial, but can be relied on whenever any of the other enema fluids are not readily available. Pre clear the rectum with a plain water enema, follow this with the chosen enema solution

The coffee enema is widely publicised these days as a part of chronic care therapy and naturopathy. It is excellent to relieve healing crisis pain and discomfort, to stimulate the liver to dump bile by absorption of the coffee into the haemhorroidal veins and the portal vein, and to encourage deep cleansing of the colon by stimulating peristaltic activity. It is a regular part of the Gerson Therapy regime and the Kelly programme.

The coffee enema is prepared by putting 3 tbsp. of drip ground coffee into 1 quart/32 fluid ounces/ 1 litre of distilled or pure water in a n on aluminium saucepan, bring to the boil for 3 minutes and then simmer on very low heat for 20 minutes. Let the mixture cool. Use when cool and warm in warm tap water to bring up room temperature. Stain the mixture through a fine metal sieve. Make mixture up to 1 litre with more pure water.

Hold in your colon for 10-15 minutes. This can be done every morning when on a detox programme or fast, and every hour during an acute healing crisis. The bowels continue to operate independently even when taking the coffee enema regularly and start functioning easily on their own after the coffee enema is discontinued. The coffee enema is recommended after a lymph massage to cleanse the colon of the lymph which has drained into the bowel, but not before sleep as it is too stimulating

Enzymes: Digestive enzymes actually melt away old mucoid layers that coat the bowel wall and work with the Psyllium to bring this material out during the enemas. Every reaction in your body is the direct result of enzymes. Digestive enzymes are very beneficial and help you gain the maximum level of nutrients from your food, and also increase the electromagnetic frequency in and around your cells helping prevent free radical damage, the cause of premature aging and disease as well as help balance the immune system.

Emotional detox.  As toxins are stirred up and released, you can experience short-term symptoms of mental-emotional detox such as: mood swings, depression, sadness, anger, and crying.

FAST. A fast is a period of time that you can chooses to abstain from solid food. However the fast you do on the Home Detox Box programme is a gentle detox as you are taking a high fibre shake five time a day for three days.

Healing. Assessed physically, is the process by which the cells in the body regenerate and repair. Healing incorporates both the removal of necrotic tissue (demolition), and the replacement. Healing, assessed spiritually, emotionally, mentally or otherwise, is a process which involves more than just the action of cells. The power of your thought, complementary therapies and spirituality will effect your healing potential. All these are healing energies and a result of more than just the action of cells on their own.

Hydration. Drinking the correct amount of water for your body weight will help curb your appetite and can increase the strength of the metabolism. It can help prevent internal infections and lower blood pressure. Water can also stop decay and infections in the mouth. Your body is 50-60% water. Drinking 6-8 glasses a day helps your body function properly.

Instructions for use:

One of the most important aspects of the detox is to drink a minimum of 2 litres of water during your day, as well as herbal tea’s. Fresh fruit and vegetable juices are also good during the fast day as well as the following days too.

Note: Diabetics, Hypoglycemics or those with yeast or sugar problems should not take a fruit juice or even carrot Juice. Use Vegetable juice or vegetable broth.

Shake: You have five shakes scheduled during the days 1,2 & 3 of the fast. Take at the times shown on the chart on page 8 of your 7 day detox calendar.

To prepare your shake you will need a large glass or beaker a hand blender or a 12 oz shaker beaker. You have been provided with a measuring spoon in the Home Detox Box.

Place 1 tablespoon / 15ml of the pre mixed Psyllium husk powder and of Bentonite clay, from shale packet Days 1, 2 & 3 add to 8-10 fluid oz water mixed with organic apple juice. Blend these together with your hand blender or in a shaker beaker. (drink immediately)

The mixture will start to swell up very quickly into a gel like consistency and be difficult to drink.

On days 4-7 you have one shake in the morning. Take 1 tablespoon/15ml of Psyllium from packet Days 4-7 on its own first thing in the morning.  Blend as normal with a hand blender or in a shaker beaker with the organic fruit juice. It is important to leave 1 hour and 30 minutes before you have your fruit breakfast.

Enzymes: Take 1 capsule 5 times a day at the times shown on chart above with a drink of water or fresh juice. You can drink as much as you like when you take your enzymes. It is important to leave 1 ½ hours between the shake and the enzymes.

Probiotics: take 1 capsule once a day at 22.00 ( just before bed) to replace beneficial bacteria in your digestive system.

Vegetable broth: Take in the evening of the first three days of the fast at the time shown on the chart on page 8.

Juice Carrot or apple is recommended for the shake 'meals' as a flavour and an additional supplment. It provides basic nutrition to support the Liver whilst it is cleaning the blood, as well as a little energy.

Mucouid PlaqueThe coating of the intestinal wall is called mucoid plaque. A certain amount of mucus is normal and enables the body to function properly, but a build up of mucus is not the natural occurrence. If this plaque is not broken up and released, no amount of cleansing of other areas of the body will have a lasting effect. The colon must be cleaned out and any unwanted guests eliminated if the rest of the body is to renew itself.

PH Level. PH is a scale that measures how acidic or alkaline a substance is. The pH of your blood is extremely important. The ideal pH level for your blood is right around 7.35 and your body goes to enormous lengths to maintain this level.

If your blood pH were to vary 1 or 2 points in either direction, it would change the electrical chemistry in your body, there would be no electrical power if youre body was acidic. Maintaining the right pH level in your blood is pretty important!!

Probiotics. Probiotics are dietary supplements containing friendly bacteria. While the word "bacteria" usually has a negative association, certain species of intestinal microflora are very beneficial. While we usually start life with a relatively healthy intestinal tract, the effects of infections, antibiotics, alcohol, stress and poor diet very often devastate healthy bacteria leading to constipation or diarrhea and a number of life threatening diseases. Supplementing our diets with an effective probiotics can reverse this trend, improve intestinal and overall health and help guard against disease. The intestinal microflora are important for the immune system.

Psyllium.Psyllium Husk Powder is a high fibre used to absorb and brush the intestinal walls that moves toxins and materials through the colon. Psyllium can be a convenient way to increase the intake of dietary fibre. It has the ability to swell up to 50 times its normal size. It also keeps the stomach full, and curtails sensations of hunger.

Skin Brushing. Helps your Lymph System to clean itself of the toxins, that gather in the Lymph Glands. You use a simple technique to improve the surface circulation on the skin and keep the pores of the skin open, encouraging your body's discharge of metabolic wastes, and resulting in an improved ability to combat bacteria, plus helping your skin to look and feel healthier and more resilient.

The Skin is the largest organ in the body, and is responsible for one-fourth of the Body's Detoxification each day, also making it, one of the most important elimination organs!

Smoothie. Smoothies are a well blended, smooth mixture of fruit and or vegetables. Smoothies benefit us in a different way from juices because smoothies contain the whole fruit, not just the juice. This means that smoothies contain the fibrous matter of the fruit and as such are good sources for our required dietary intake of fibre. Fibre helps aid digestion.

Sprouts Sprouts are rich in digestible energy, bioavailable vitamins, minerals, amino acids, proteins, beneficial enzymes and phytochemicals, as these are necessary for a germinating plant to grow. Being eaten whilst extremely young, “alive” and rapidly developing, sprouts have been acclaimed as the “most enzyme-rich food on the planet”. Estimates suggest there can be up to 100 times more enzymes in sprouts than in fruit and vegetables, depending on the particular type of enzyme and the variety of seed being sprouted. The period of greatest enzyme activity in sprouts is generally between germination and 7 days of age.”

Superfoods. Is a term used to describe food with a high phytonutrient content that has health benefits as a result. For example, blueberries are often considered a superfood (or superfruit) because they contain significant amounts of antioxidants, anthocyanins, vitamin C, manganese and dietary fibre. The list of super foods include

Blackcurrants ,Wolfberries  Goji Berries ,Cacao,. Blueberries, Raspberries Bilberry , Coffee Berry , Bee Pollen , Açaí. Aloe Vera , Probiotics , Noni Fruit Yacon Root,  Maca , Rose hips , Watercress , Papaya , Soy, Flax seed , Broccoli Alfalfa sprouts, Oranges , Spinach , Tomatoes , Walnuts , Blue/Green algae, Chlorella,  Spirulina,  Avocado.

Toxins. Toxins are agents capable of causing our bodies harm. External toxins, known as Exogenous toxins come from external sources, for example, car fumes, tobacco smoke, drugs, dental fillings, factory pollution, lead etc. Endogenous toxins come from viral or bacterial infections and Autogenous toxins are created by the body itself due to its own metabolism.

Vitamins and minerals. For the most part, vitamins are obtained with food, but a few are obtained by other means. For example, microorganisms in the intestine—commonly known as "gut flora"—produce vitamin K and biotin, while one form of vitamin D is synthesized in the skin with the help of natural ultraviolet in sunlight. Humans can produce some vitamins from what we consume. Examples include vitamin A, produced from beta carotene, and niacin, from the amino acid tryptophan. Once growth and development are completed in our bodies, vitamins remain essential nutrients for the healthy maintenance of the cells, tissues, and organs that make up a multicellular organism; they also enable a us to efficiently use chemical energy provided by the food we eat, and to help process the proteins, carbohydrates, and fats required for respiration.
